Sugar Beet - PTFB - Blurb from 9.1.26

Hi and HELLO! The Sugar Beet crowd rolled in ready to play again this week, bringing big voices, big laughs, and that dance energy! With guest host John navigating tunes, the room settled in for another night of music, mayhem, and memories. Round 1: The 1960’s We kicked things off with a blast from the past. The harmonies were loud, the smiles were big, and the nostalgia hit instantly. Achievers showed up early, and the room locked into that perfect groove of confident singing… and bold guessing when confidence ran out. Round 2: 1979 One year, one vibe, and a whole lot of attitude. The crowd leaned into the era hard — some of you clearly lived it, and some of you have definitely practiced your ’79 moves more recently than you’d admit. Round 3: Buncha Animals Chaos, comedy, and creature‑themed jams galore. The room was swaying, shouting, laughing, and channeling every bit of wild energy. It was loud, it was silly, and it was absolutely perfect. Round 4: The 1970’s W...

Sugar Beet - PTFB - Blurb from 8.4.26

Hi and HELLO! The Sugar Beet crowd rolled in ready to play again this week, bringing big voices, big laughs! With guest host John steering the ship, the room settled in for another night of music, mayhem, and memories. Round 1 kicked off with Short Shorts , and the energy popped right away. Achievers showed up early, and the room jumped straight into that perfect groove of singing confidently… and guessing boldly when confidence ran out. Round 2 took us straight into the ’80s , where neon energy, big choruses, and even bigger nostalgia took over. Some of you clearly lived through the decade — and some of you have definitely practiced those ’80s moves more recently than you’d admit. Round 3 dropped us into the ’60s , and suddenly the whole room was swaying, harmonizing, and channeling vintage cool. The vibe was warm, loud, and wonderfully chaotic. Round 4 gave us a brand‑new twist with Fonzies Jams . The crowd lit up, the singing got louder, and for a moment it felt like...

PTFB - Sugar Beet - 7.21.26

Hi , Hey and Hello! The Sugar Beet crowd rolled in AGAIN ready for action this week, filling the room with big laughs, and just enough competitive spirit to make everyone suspicious of their neighbors’ bingo cards despite the rain storm. Guest host Johnny W navigating the music, the night was primed for another round of musical madness and crowd‑powered fun. Round 1 opened with Family Affair , and it didn’t take long for the room to prove that everyone has at least one song about family tucked somewhere in their memory. Achievers appeared early, and the sing‑along energy kicked in fast — some confident, some questionable, all entertaining. Round 2 took us back to the Class of ’85 , where big hair, big hooks, and even bigger nostalgia ruled the room. It quickly became clear that several of you either lived through the era or have spent a suspicious amount of time revisiting it on Spotify. Round 3 dropped us into the land of One Hit Wonders , and suddenly every table was s...

Sugar Beet - PTFB - Blurb from 6.16

Hey there and hello! The Sugar Beet crowd showed up ready to play this week again, bringing big energy, big voices, and just enough competitive spirit to make everyone suspicious of their neighbor’s bingo card. With guest host John leading the night, the room settled in for another round of music, memories, and mayhem. Round 1 opened with Hitsville USA , covering the best from the ’60s through the ’90s. The nostalgia hit immediately. People were singing, swaying, and confidently belting out lyrics they remembered… or at least thought they remembered. Bingo Achievers appeared early, and the room found its groove fast. Round 2 dropped us under the Disco Ball , where glitter, groove, and questionable dance moves reign supreme. The vibe shifted into full‑on party mode, and it became clear that some of you have been practicing your disco steps for years—while others were improvising with impressive enthusiasm. Right in the middle of the night, we hit our Dance Break , and the r...

Sugar Beet – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb for May 5, 2026

Sugar Beet – Play That Funky Bingo – April 21, 2026 The Sugar Beet crowd rolled in strong this week, packing the place with about 85 players and the kind of early‑evening buzz 🐝that only Tuesday energy and good food can produce. It was one of those nights where the room felt full before the first song even hit, and by the time cards were out, everyone was already leaning in. Round 1 kicked things off with One Hit Wonders Part 2 , a celebration of artists who struck gold once and then spent the rest of their careers politely waving at that moment from afar. Bingo Achievers stacked up quickly, and the room warmed right into it. Round 2 shifted gears into Southern Rock , and the vibe changed instantly. You could feel the collective head‑nod from the tables that grew up on it, the tables that discovered it later, and the tables that pretended they knew every song but absolutely did not. Bingo Achievers kept rolling in, and the room stayed loud in the best way. Seems you folks are be...

Sugar Beet Market – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from March 17, 2026 🍀St. Patrick’s Day at Sugar Beet is always a bit of a social experiment, and this year did not disappoint. An Irish band wrapped up right before showtime, which meant their entire audience drifted into our space like a green‑clad tide. Census came in at 137, plus 20 or 30 others who weren’t playing but were absolutely committed to standing exactly where I needed to walk. I wore my kilt because if you’re going to host a St. Patrick’s Day show, you might as well lean in. Several players reminded me to “guard my bits” when I sat down, which is the kind of community support you just can’t buy. Thanks for that! (No mention if my bits were seen or this was just preventative advice!) We opened with British Invasion, which hit perfectly after the fiddles stopped. A whole parade of Funky Bingo achievers grabbed wins led by John D. Our in-house Brit approved of this Round, calling it the best bit of music he'd likely h...

Sugar Beet Market – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from 2/17/26

Sugar Beet Market showed up big for the last Funky Bingo night — the kind of evening where everyone walked in already laughing and at least three people announced they were “feeling lucky” before the first card even hit the table. Round 1 kicked off a brief celebration of Mardi Gras with player "Knuckles" (?) as our first winner of the night. T.S. grabbed the first bingo on 80’s 3 , and suddenly the whole room remembered how competitive they get when the music starts. Round 3 rolled into Tasty Tunes , where terri d snagged the first bingo and half the room tried to sing along even though the lyrics were… let’s call it “interpretive.” Round 4’s M an oh Man  failed to live up to its name when Lin hit the first bingo. Then came the prize round, where the spreadsheet decided to express itself creatively. Only one name survived the Great Save Glitch of 2026, so Joan B now holds the prestigious honor of being the only fully documented prize winner of the night. The remaining prize...

Sugar Beet Market – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb for 01/27/26

Sugar Beet Market – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb for 01/27/26 Sugar Beet came in cold but got hot last Tuesday — which is funny, because the first round theme was all about running, and by the time we hit the halfway point, half the room looked like they’d just finished a 5K. “Run, Forrest, Run!” lived up to its name, with dabbers flying, cards flipping, and at least one table celebrating like they’d just outrun a CGI tornado. A few players popped up in this round and again later in the night, proving that some folks don’t just run — they run the table . Then came 1980’s Part 4 , which hit the room like a neon‑soaked mixtape. Big hair, big synths, big wins. Several players who’d already tasted victory earlier in the night doubled down here, because nothing says “I’m feeling lucky” like a round full of songs that could’ve been playing in the background of a John Hughes movie. Short Shorts Part 2 arrived next — our beloved collection of songs that are shorter than a commercial brea...
